The Siege of Kazan, also known as the Fall of Kazan, was the decisive military campaign of the Russo-Kazan Wars in 1552 that resulted in the capture of Kazan and the annexation of the Khanate of Kazan by the Tsardom of Russia. The siege began on 23 August 1552 and ended with the capture of the city on 2 October.
Russian rule was followed by continued resistance in the former Khanate. Rebel governments emerged in Çalım and Mişätamaq, while a new khan was invited from the Nogai Horde. The resulting rebellion continued until 1556.
