On 8 December 2000, a mass shooting took place at Al-Sunna Al-Mohammediyya Mosque in the al-Jarafa neighborhood of Omdurman, Sudan. A member of Takfir wal-Hijra opened fire during Isha prayer attended by members of Ansar al-Sunna, killing at least 22 people and injuring more than 30 others before the gunman was killed by police.
