2026 Broad Peak avalanche

On 30 July 2026, an avalanche struck a group of 10 climbers attempting to summit Broad Peak in the Karakoram range of Pakistan. The avalanche occurred at an altitude of about 6,600 m (21,700 ft) on the slope between Camp 2 and Camp 3 and swept all the climbers down the mountain. On 1 August, it was confirmed that all 10 climbers had died. The climbers were Sohail Sakhi, Mallory Geis, Nirmal Purja (Nimsdai), Pur Bahadur Gurung (Yukta), Nima Sherpa, Nadhira Al Harthy, Kili Pemba Sherpa (Kilu), Nawang Thindu Sherpa, Gyalu Sherpa and Wang Zhong.
